Physical
For safety reasons, students must complete a medical questionnaire in class that asks about medical conditions that might affect your ability to dive. If the conditions stated do not apply than you can sign the form and start the course. If you are not sure about any of the conditions stated, seek medical advice and obtain a physical.
Waterskills
Before completing the NAUI scuba diver course, all students will be required to demonstrate comfort with basic swimming skills.
- swim 200 yards in any stroke. 8 laps in 10 minutes.
- tread water for 10 minutes.
- dive down and recover a brick from the bottom of the pool (10 ft).
- swim one length of the pool underwater.
Physical Challenges:
If you can meet the performance requirements of the course you qualify for certification. Individuals with paraplegia, amputations and other challenges may earn a NAUI scuba diver certification. Talk to your NAUI Instructor for more information.
